1993
IT ALL STARTED ON A NAPKIN
On February 17, 1993, Kent Taylor opened the first Texas Roadhouse in
Clarksville, Indiana. Kent’s goal was to create a restaurant where everyone,
of all ages, could have fun and enjoy made-from-scratch food.
1999
MANAGING PARTNER OF THE YEAR
Kent named Gina Tobin the first Managing Partner of the Year in 1999. Recognition remains a key part of our culture today. Roadies are recognized and rewarded for their hard work, acts of service with heart, and results. As a company, top performers from both the restaurants and the Support Center are celebrated at events throughout the year.
2004
Texas Roadhouse became a publicly-traded company on Tuesday, October 5, 2004. It was a much anticipated event with a lot of preparation and was a special moment that TXRH hit the NASDAQ stock ticker. We are proud of the Profit Sharing Program we have in place for Managers and Support Center Roadies.
2005
Created CORE VALUES...ALL WITH PURPOSE
PASSION • PARTNERSHIP • INTEGRITY • FUN
These are the values we strive to live out every day in our restaurants and at our Support Center. In 2005, Kent suggested the core values be less than five words and come from our people. Our leadership team collected words from our Roadies before landing on the final selections.
2011
2013
Bubba’s 33 was created in 2013 as a restaurant where families and friends could enjoy a lively atmosphere without sacrificing quality food. With wall-to-wall flat screens and scratch-made food for all, Bubba’s 33 serves up a variety of options featuring handcrafted pizza, bold burgers, and ice-cold beer.
2014
NOBLESVILLE, IN
The company’s fast-casual concept, Jaggers, first opened in 2014 with fresh food and real ingredients. Menu items are made-to-order, so guests taste the difference. Double-stacked burgers, hand-breaded chicken sandwiches, and our hand-spun milkshakes are notable guest favorites.

“Made from Scratch: The Legendary Success Story of Texas Roadhouse”
Before our Founder, Kent Taylor, passed away – he wrote Made From Scratch. His biography now serves as a guide for Roadies today and in the future. In 2021, Kent’s book landed on a few best-seller lists, including earning a #4 spot on the Wall Street Journal’s list.
